This week I'm sharing Doctor Saloni Surah's crystal journey and how they became part of her life. She talks about her journey from her first crystal purchase to how she has shared her collection with others.
The Start of My Crystal Journey
My journey with crystals started many years ago in the Welsh Valleys when I was working as a house-officer (very junior doctor). A simple comment on how somebody’s earrings sparkled in the light (I still remember the sparkle now) resulted in me being gifted a rose quartz crystal. At the time I had no idea what to do with it. But I do remember holding it in my hands and feeling what can only be described as a ‘little vibrations’. Looking back now it was the beginning of a long love affair with crystals. Many years later whilst living in Ireland I learnt Reiki and did a crystal healing course (with a wonderful healer that I still work with). As I was busy with my medical career, I didn’t do anything with either healing modality except use both on myself and friends occasionally. |

Growing My Crystal Collection Throughout My Journey
My crystal collection grew over the years. But more lately it has thinned out. Writing this post now makes me wonder if I still have that first crystal from the Welsh Valleys and if that woman knew the ripple effect of her actions? Rose Quartz has a special place in my heart; it’s because I struggle so much with self-love. A legacy of my ancestors. The one piece that has been my, ‘go-to’ in times of need is a big chunk of rose quartz that I bought in Dublin years ago now. I still remember the shop-owner telling me that it ‘glowed’ in my hands when I picked it up. This is the piece that I always go back to when I’m stressed, under the weather or all over the place. That rose quartz and I have spent many a night together. |

Sharing My Crystal Collection As Part of My Journey
Over the recent years, as my children have come along, and I have less time I’ve thinned out my collection. I’ve given many crystals away that I haven’t used in years, in the hope that they would bring some joy to others. It’s felt a little like I’ve been shedding the past. I’ve gifted many to friends but would have loved to gift to those who maybe couldn’t afford crystals but were in need. It’s a shame there’s no website or place (well that I know of anyway) that has this facility. |

Revisiting Crystal Healing
The last few months have been intense with the launch of Flora Investigates: The Case Of The Missing Gold Eggs, and so I decided to treat myself. I somehow started to follow this Swedish crystal jeweller on social media and well couldn’t stop looking at her stuff; I wanted them all. Crystal porn is a definitely a thing! I finally settled on one crystal jewellery piece, and it arrived this week, in the midst of a bout of the gastroenteritis virus and a new moon. I can’t wait to see what magic we will create together; I know her arrival was divine timing. |
