One of the issues that crystals are often used to help with are stress and anxiety. In this blog I will talk about which crystals are best for this and also suggest some other ways that could help with anxiety.

Why do Crystals Help with Anxiety?

Crystals help with anxiety for a number of reasons. One because they come from the earth. They have natural vibrations relating to the earth and nature. But also, these vibrations work on the different chakras or energy centres within the body.

There are a number of areas that could be affected by stress by choosing crystals for these chakras. Most people can come up with a positive result using crystals.

Base or Root Chakra

An imbalance in the base or root chakra, as it’s also known is often where stress can manifest itself or even be the start of cause of stress and anxiety.

Use of crystals for this chakra help the individual using them feel more grounded and connected to day to day and hence help reduce stress and anxiety.

Crystals that are good for this chakra include black or red crystals. Haematite is particularly good for grounding along with black tourmaline, black obsidian and red jasper.

The Heart Chakra

The heart chakra is also another chakra that can be affected by anxiety. It’s linked with self-love, but also balance and has the same number of chakras above as below so it can seen as the centre of everything.

You can get imbalances in corresponding chakras e.g., an imbalance in the root chakra is often shows an imbalance in the crown chakra.

Crystals for the heart chakra work on love. Not necessarily romantic love but also self love and general well being so rose quartz  is a good start for this. It’s almost like giving yourself a hug with a crystal.

Crystals that work on this chakra are quite gentle pink or green stones such as aventurine and fluorite.

Third Eye and Crown Chakras

Then the remaining chakras and stones which help with stress and anxiety tend to be focused more on the crown and the third eye which is about connecting with your spiritual self. Often this is where imbalances can be seen.

Crystals that are particularly good in this area, generally tend to be purple and clear although there are a few exceptions.

Lepidolite is very good, it’s similar in appearance to amethyst but as it’s not a quartz it hasn’t got that same clear translucent look as amethyst. It is purple and has a milkier overtone to it but as well as being good for stress and sleep it is also good for anxiety. It’s my personal go to for sleep issues.

Other stones to consider:

  • Labradorite can be quite protective but also deals with symptoms of stress and anxiety
  • Fluorite works very well particularly rainbow fluorite. You have the green that’s working on the heart and then the purple is working on the third eye.

Clear quartz is an excellent choice both for its relation to the crown chakra but also because the fact that it will amplify the effects of any other crystals that are being used.

Ways to Use Crystals for Anxiety

Crystals can be used in a number of ways. Keep one in your pocket or about your person particularly what are called worry /thumb stones which have got a nice little dent in them. Put your pocket and periodically just fiddle with it and you will get the benefits from it both being near you and from you having something to distract yourself.

You can also wear a bracelet or necklace with your chosen crystals in a particular recommendation made by me. If you choose something like an amethyst and quartz, the quartz will amplify the effect of the amethyst. If you couple this with lava beads then you can add essential oils to the lava beads. You will then get the aromatherapy from any essential oils used as well as the topical benefits. Suggested essential oils would be something simple like lavender that a lot of people have around.

Crystal Elixirs/Water

Crystals can also be used to transfer their properties and their vibrations to water. However, this is something that should be approached with care. Some crystals can actually leach out toxic elements that wouldn’t come out if the crystal were kept dry. Also softer crystals such as selenite and turquoise can also dissolve in water.

It’s worth noting that by using crystal waters particularly in a purpose made water bottle, you can keep an eye on how much water you are consuming a day and make sure you are actually staying on top of the amount you need to flush the toxins out and stay hydrated which can also make stress and anxiety seen worse.

Other Ways to Manage Anxiety and Stress

In my Facebook group, there are some lives that look at items that help with anxiety from other business owners. I’ll talk briefly about these below. But do go to my group and watch the originals if you’re interested in knowing more.

Finger Labyrinths

A labyrinth is different to a maze in that there is always a solution you don’t hit dead ends and you can never get lost. Finger labyrinths are a small physical item of varying shapes and sizes where you can actually trace the labyrinth with your finger. This actually takes you out of yourself for a few moments and can be very mindful and just stopping and doing that can help calm anxiety too.

Journaling

I’ve talked in about journaling and how that can help. It doesn’t have to be your best time writing a really pretty journal or bullet journals with all these various various signs and symbols, just an old exercise book and writing no one else is going to see it.

You can either journal regularly in response to specific prompts and affirmations and then take the time to reflect on it.

Or another technique you can use particularly if you’re very anxious is actually scribble your thoughts and anxieties down and then destroy the piece of paper visualising your anxieties going with that.

I hope you’ve found this blog useful. As I said there is further information on my Facebook group and I will in the near future be running master classes to look in more depth at some of these areas.
